Wuyi University (WYU) established by the People's Government of Guangdong Province in 1985 as a multidisciplinary university focusing on engineering is a high-level university of science and technology in Guangdong Province and presently under doctoral degree conferment accreditation. WYU is located in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, an important node city in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and known as “the hometown of overseas Chinese". There are more than 24,000 students in WYU, including nearly 20,000 full-time undergraduates and 1,300 postgraduates.
The university has 82 undergraduate majors (specializations), involving 7 disciplines namely engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art, with 66% of the majors (specializations) in science and technology. Qualifications for Application:
1.Applicants should be physically and mentally healthy.
2.Applicants should be non-Chinese holding valid passport.
3.Applicants should reach the age of 18 or above before 31 Aug, 2025. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide Guardian's guarantee and notarized certificate.
4.Applicants should submit valid non-criminal record.
5.Applicants for bachelor’s degree programs must be foreign nationals with a diploma equivalent to a Chinese high school diploma; Applicants for master's degree programs must be foreign nationals with a diploma equivalent to a Chinese bachelor's degree diploma.
6.Chinese Proficiency: Applicants for bachelor’s degree programs must have a Chinese proficiency of HSK level 4 or above; Applicants for master's degree programs must have a Chinese proficiency of HSK level 5 or above. Those who do not meet the requirements of Chinese proficiency can apply for the Chinese Language Study Program, and then apply for bachelor’s or master’s degree programs after their Chinese proficiency meets the requirements of the university.
7.Requirements for applicants as Chinese descendants: If both or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen or has acquired foreign nationality after emigrating from China’s mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, according to the “Notice on the Regulations of Chinese Universities' Acceptance of International Students” ([2020] No.12), applicants must have acquired foreign nationality for 4 years or more, and have a record of actual residence in the foreign country for at least 2 years between 30 April, 2020 and 30 April, 2025. (Actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, subject to the entry and exit stamps)

The standard duration of bachelor’s degree programs is 4 years with an extension of no more than 8 years in total;

Other fees
1.Insurance
Insurance is required for all international students. Those who fail to purchase insurance in accordance with the regulations will not be admitted. The general cost of purchasing comprehensive insurance for international students in China is about RMB 800 per person per academic year.
2. Physical examination fee and residence permit fee
Applicants will be charged by the relevant institutions for physical examination and residence permit application.
Application and Admission Procedure
Application Procedure
Applicants download Application Form for International Students (Appendix 1) and fill in the information truthfully and completely as required. Then the application materials should be submitted to [email protected] and the application fee should be paid. Applicants may be asked to submit additional information.
Note: If the application documents are incomplete or the application fee has not been paid, the application will not be accepted and the submitted documents and fee will not be refunded. If the applicant is confirmed with academic or professional misconduct, or behaviors with dishonesty etc., he will lose the qualification to be admitted to or study in the university.
Admission Procedure
1. Eligibility review
The university will comprehensively review the applicant's foreign status, highest academic qualifications, recommendations, academic performance, Chinese proficiency and other supporting documents to determine the list of the candidates to be assessed.
2.Assessment
Those who are considered eligible after the review will participate in the assessment according to the notice. Generally, the candidates will have an interview only or an interview with a written exams. The specific assessment method, place and time will be notified by email after the eligibility review(email address: [email protected]).
3.Notice of Admission
The university will admit the top applicants according to the eligibility review and assessment, and recommend the top ones from the admitted students to apply for the scholarship. The list of scholarship winners is subject to the announcement by the scholarship management department.

Application is typically available from early March to early July.
The registration time for freshmen is generally in early September each year. Please refer to the notice of admission for more information.
Admitted applicants should apply for X1 visa at the Chinese embassy (consulate) with the notice of admission and Confirmation Form for Foreigners Studying in China (JW202). When coming to the university to register, applicants need to bring all the application documents, including the hard copy of passport, notice of admission, JW202, student visa, graduation certificate and hard copy of transcript for the university to review the admission qualifications. Those who falsify the application documents or do not meet the admission requirements will be disqualified. Applicants need to convert their X1 visa into a student residence permit within 30 days after entering China. Those who fail to change their visa within the time limit will be disqualified. The university does not accept students with non-study visa to enroll. Students whose visa or residence permit have expired are not allowed to accommodate or take part in activities on campus.
